Money is the essence of all business operation and it is no different in education. We saw recently, in the Illinois House a bill was passed by 112-4votes, allowing illegal immigrants the opportunity to pay in state tuition at colleges and universities. Although it was a one-sided affair, it was very simple to vote on, and this should not have happened.
No academic institution should deny any student the right to be educated. Then we should not defeat the definition of citizenship. The reason for the difference between the two is very simple. To deny children the basic foundation of an education is unlawful and unjust whether they are legal or illegal. It also puts pressure on the state, if their students do not have an education, then the state would have to provide them with some sort of social help.
It is also stated that over 3,000 young people in the state of Illinois are experiencing this problem. This is only one state, imagine if you were to translate this amount to the other states what would happen. Since these students whether legal or illegal parents pay taxes, isn’t this some sort of qualification for in-state tuition.
Every student, according to the right of any government whether local or national, is to ensure that students that are legal or illegal have the same access to education ,and should be able to pay the same tuition. There should not be any discrimination as to who gets what. Everybody comes here with the expectation to develop themselves and families, and of course live and follow the American dream, so why should there be barriers, as to who qualify and who doesn’t. The laws need to be updated and reform so as to arrest the crisis at hand.
